i swear shizz is getting more ferrel by the day, take a look for your self

I arrived at the jump to find Tom and Tuai slacking, trying to get a tan. Jamie was throwing a few tricks around and basically being himself.  Matt was getting dressed, and Rhys was just telling a few lies on the mic about everyone to impress the crowd.

   After about 20 mins and Beaton had rounded all the boys up a ‘lil bit of riding went down with some lazy spins and grabs. After a while this weirdo known by the name of Tomato Kirkmano came running out some bushes, slipped on a helmet but no super hero cape and all the possible protection we had to offer, he climbed to the very top of the tower and did some trick called a rodeo (from my eyes it was the best thing we’d seen today, but not as pretty as Tuai of course)

    The first demo was over so me, Tuai, Tom and Rhys slowly meandered our way back to the luxury villa to pack everything away for the long trip home. When it came to crossing the racetrack some old grandma working on an archery stall told us we weren’t aloud to go that way. Much to my disgust of a world champion tom decided to ignore this half-pleasant woman so went behind the archery stall (where we were not suppose to go). I decided to go back to the jump with Jamie and be a real ‘goody goody’, as it turns out that was the right decision to make because when tom, tuai and rhys were half way there they got a real slap in the face when the Indian archery beginners opened fire!!

      Anyway, after about half-an-hour me and Jamie finally reached the tent from taking the ‘goody goodys’ route. Tuai being the helpful man he is had already done most of the tidying up when we got there and Tom was making a sandwich which had to be the WORST I have ever seen!  According to him it was lovely but I wasn’t so convinced. It looked like road-kill & it probably was!

      After all the packing up was done we all went back over to the jump, matt was wearing this ridiculous hat that we nipped off him and hid in the car, (he might still not have it now) Now we all were chilling out on the jump apart from shizz who was still playing with his hair after rhys smeared coconut oil that actually smelt quite nice, but the stench of shizz’s board ruined it completely. Then out of the blue toby, somehow, had brought back with him from his adventures a refrigerated crate of monster that we all adored. I got bored after a while so told everyone to go do some tricks so I can take some pics and film for a bit. Cool times had by all.

    Nothing much really happened in the second demo except for a few freaks on four wheels riding over a car so I would be wasting my time telling you about it.

      The evening went down with a rail and kicker sesh which obviously tuai didn’t participate in cos he’s a slacker, and everyone knows it!

Now thats out of the way, in 2008 when we first got the mbs demo ramp on the road we were heading to the iog soltex to show them how we rolled, im not sure how it came up but me an Alex Downie ended up chatting about the times when our back foot had come out of the binding doing a frontflip, it was a pretty funny converstaion which ended up with us both deciding we were some lucky son of a guns. anyway, we arived at the event, set up and spent the rest of the day skating a palet, good times!

Next morning we got up bright an early brushed out teath and got our pads on, the first demo was pretty fun, the setup was nice and fast an we were all having a blast then on my last jump in the second demo everything went to shit, my foot came out of my binding as i took off for a frontflip then to my suprise my ankel broke in three places and dislocated when i hit the deck, bad times!

After a fair old hit of morphine and some class beatboxing courtesy of Rhys and Downie I was carted off to hospital were I cant rember what happened untill I came to and saw Downie lying in a bed next to me with a full cast on his leg, at first I thought I was spinning out but then he spoke and we had a good old laugh about it, I think. This moment was the end of Downies time on a board and a sad day for us all, he was by far the most natural and talented rider ever, but thats another story an one we will cover in the future. 

I dont wana sound like one of those cheesie snowboarders that piss me off no end but, my first thoughts were, this is me done, ill get into writing poetry or knitting or something like that, but that idea died as soon as I saw someone ride, it made me so damn jelous, and I knew from that moment that however bad I wanted or needed to stop riding I wouldnt be able to, because its like some sort of addiction.

After a year and a bit my leg was sweeet again, well not sweet but ok and getting back on a board felt so good, in a way it felt even easier than before because I had spent so much time thinking about it. so the moral of the story is, dont be a pussy, na i’m joking, the moral of the story is you can hurt youself doing anything, yeah mountainboarding probably hurts a bit more than knitting but your body’s pretty good at healing and the fun you can get out riding outways the pain or time lost from a little bruise or a broken bone, oh yeah, and always make sure your heelstrap  is on proper;y.
