How to front flip like Junior Sausage…..by Tom Read

• First of all you need to have this sorted in your head or else there’s no point in trying it at all because you will land on the face which might hurt, so listen up good!

•  The first step is obviously taking off and this is most certainly the most important step of the lot. get this bit down and the trick is yours!

• You need to go up the kicker with your weight slightly more on your back leg and imagine you’re trying to do some kind of massive ollie.

•  (Timing is critical as you will need to leave the kicker with your back wheels as close to the lip as possible without going too far before you’ve popped!)

• As you’re leaving the kicker, compress the board with your weight on your back leg and pop off it like you mean it! (this is how you get momentum for the flip) Then as your back wheels are leaving the kicker, you need to rapidly shift all your weight forward and focus on looking at the passage of the flipping motion (your body follows your eyes).

• For a brief moment you will not have a clue where you are but dont worry! Keep looking at where the flip is going and eventually you will start to see land, spot your landing as soon as you can and assess if you need to adjust the speed of your rotation by opening out or tucking in, depending on wether you need to rotate faster or slower so you can get the perfect landing.

• When its time to land stomp the wheels down and be sure to bend your legs to lake the impact for smooth ride out.

• Once you’ve done it a couple of times, you will get the hang of popping off the lip just the right amount so you get the rotation spot on every time!
  Then all you gotta do is show all your mates how super gnarly you are with your awesome front flips!
